The Voruganti Lab at UNC Nutrition Research Institute (NC Research Campus) is currently enrolling for 2 studies.
The Children's Health Study is looking for families with children ages 5 to 19 to provide blood, urine, and saliva samples. A questionnaire will need to be completed with medical history and medications, food frequency, and a diet recall. We also measure height, weight, waist circumference, and blood pressure. The purpose is to identify possible genetic and lifestyle factors that may contribute to childhood obesity.
The Fructose Liver-Fat Study is looking for Caucasians ages 12 to 40 with no history of heavy alcohol or soda consumption to provide a saliva sample and fill out short questionnaire. Selected participants will undergo an oral fructose challenge. The purpose is to identify possible genetic and lifestyle factors that may contribute to nonalcoholic fatty liver disease.
All eligible participants will be compensated.
