This is a rare discontinued Goldtone model PBKG acoustic square neck guitar designed by Paul Beard, a well known dobro builder. Spruce top, solid rosewood sides and back, mahogany neck.
I bought this guitar directly from Wayne Rogers, the president of Goldtone during the 2016 IBMA (International Bluegrass Music Association held in Raleigh.
We were talking at the Goldtone booth, and I commented on this discontinued model. He said it was one of his favorites, but it just wasn’t selling, so they pulled the plug on it. He said they did have one left that had some bridge problems that were fixed, but didn’t look very good. He said it was solid and they also put in a Bridge Doctor stabilizer just in case, but it’s been sitting in a closet for a while.
I asked if it was for sale, and he said, yeah, $400. I said can you hold it, so he called his shop manager and they put my name on it. I bought it and have had a lot of fun with it-no bridge issues whatsoever.
If you want a very unique instrument with a unique voice, this could be your next guitar. I’m selling it for what I bought it for 10 years ago. $400. Receipts shown and nice gig bag included. Cash deal only. Happy to provide more pictures or info.
