Summary: Spray surfaces of machines or parts, manufactured products, or working area with protective or decorative material; such as paint and enamel.
Duties: Check to make sure machines are cleaned correctly when it leaves prep area and enters paint
Must have working knowledge of spray equipment (mixing systems, pumps, booths, ovens and spray gun)
Apply masking tape over parts and areas that are not to be coated
Set up booth with machine or parts
Mixes coating to produce special color
Pour coating liquid into spray container and properly connects spray gun to airhose
Adjust sprayer valves and nozzle to regulate width and pressure of spray, then apply paint or coating to work surface
Clean spraying equipment and brushes with solvent
Lear background knowledge of rebuilding equipment by diagrams
Spray lube or add lube onto products after they are tested
Trouble shoot spray equipment and machinery as needed
Must be able to operate forklift and other heavy equipment
Education/Experience: One year certificate from college or technical school; or two years experience painting in the automotive industry; or a combination of education and experience
Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand. The employee is frequently required to walk, use hand/arms, reach with arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and color vision.
