Authentic Brown Leather Eames Lounge Chair
This chair is in fantastic used vintage condition and has rare brown leather with a lighter stained walnut finish. This wood/leather combination is not available today and this is an opportunity to own a truly vintage piece.
This chair is completely original and retains all of its original hardware, leather and shells. Nothing appears to have been ever replaced, modified or repaired.
I've made my best attempt at determining the year of production since only the black Herman Miller label is present. The adhesive left behind by the other production labels is still visible on the underside of the chair and ottoman. I firmly believe it was manufactured in 1980. Though the chair only retains the Herman Miller label, its exact positioning behind the base is only seen in examples from that specific year. I found this extraordinary and reached out to Herman Miller to see if they could provide any insight but they could only confirm its authenticity and not the year.
It has typical signs of use and love that are always present in a vintage chair. Both arms have marks as well as the seat cushion and ottoman cushion. The leather has the normal broken-in baseball glove feel and the cushioning performs as expected.
The leather was recently reconditioned by a professional leather restoration service. The wood plys are in excellent condition and the only significant damage is on the back edges of the ottoman (as seen in the pictures). This damaged is caused by the chair bumping the ottoman when it swivels.
I have owned a few 670/671s and I do understand how special they are. I can provide any additional pictures if requested though I did make my best attempt to include all areas that give the telltale signs of an authentic Eames chair.
