Charlotte STYLE Magazine, a lifestyle based fashion magazine is currently seeking talented students for the 2008 Internship Program.
Our internship program is one of kind. Interns will work on critical tasks in the magazine/fashion industry. Students will develop and enhance their multi-tasking and communication skills through work on various client projects.
All programs will provide students with an opportunity to gain real world experience magazine / fashion / public relations industry, as they work alongside Supervisors, Editors and Account Executives on various exciting projects.
Available Positions (General):
Executive Assistant to the EIC/Editorial Assistant-Assist EIC and at times Publisher with administrative tasks. Provides support and serves as liaison and communicator to the respective departments in EIC absence should that task be assigned.
Available Positions (Graphic Design):
Graphic and Web Design - The Graphic and Web Designer will oversee all aspects of graphic design development and production for the magazine and is responsible for concept development, image selection, copy design and layout, revisions and coordination between departments.
Available Positions (Public Relations):
Public Relations and Events Coordinator – Duties include but are not limited to developing and maintaining media lists, monitoring and tracking media, preparing and updating media clippings, preparing fact sheets, press releases, pitch letters and backgrounders, liaise with other members of the team and work collaboratively with other team members within the office, research, plan, implement and evaluate events to increase the branding and positioning of the magazine.
Available Positions (Editorial):
i. Wine N Dine
1. "Wine and Dine" Editor- Responsible for all writing of the aforementioned features. Assist editor in editorial calendar for the department. Serve as liaison between the restaurants and owners (if situation dictates and Joy is unavailable). Creative, outgoing and organized is a must.
2. Staff Writer/Reporter- Responsible for finding the eateries and researching the locations. Writes and edits material in assigned subject areas. Keeps current on openings, events, magazines and newspapers in areas assigned.
ii. Fashion
1. Fashion Editor- Heads the editorial features in the fashion department, Plans and produces features in this area. Has responsibility for all editorial content under the supervision of the EIC in subject area. Fashion Forward, outgoing, well-spoken, detail oriented, excellent journalistic skills and a self-starter.
2. Associate Fashion Editor - consults with Fashion editor on editorial content in the department. Researches and coordinates features and editorials; may organize fashion shoots, find locations and subjects as well as props. Stays on top of trends in the charlotte market and beyond; attends trade shows, fashion events and may write column from time to time.
3. Staff Writer/Reporter- has responsibility for writing stories for the Fashion department. Attends function and shows; Keeps current on openings, events, magazines and newspapers in areas assigned.
iii. Beauty
1. Beauty Editor- Heads the editorial features in the beauty department, Plans and produces features in this area. Has responsibility for all editorial content under the supervision of the EIC in subject area.
Outgoing, well-spoken, detail oriented, excellent journalistic skills and a self-starter.
2. Associate Beauty Editor- consults with Beauty editor on editorial content in the department. Researches and coordinates features and editorials; may organize photo shoots, find locations and subjects as well as props. Stays on top of trends in the charlotte market and beyond; attends shows and events and may write column from time to time.
3. Staff Writer/Reporter- has responsibility for writing stories for the beauty department. Attends functions and shows; Keeps current on openings, events, magazines and newspapers in areas assigned.
iv. My Style
1. Departmental Lead/Senior Writer-responsible for writing stories, profiles and features in assigned section of the magazine. Must be very knowledgeable of the Charlotte market and well-connected. Attends shows and functions as well as coordinates and manages the efforts of any reporters assigned to a particular story. Reports directly to EIC unless otherwise noted.
2. Assistant/Staff Writer- Writes and edits material in assigned subject areas. Keeps current on openings, events, magazines, newspapers and people in areas assigned. Stylish, inquisitive, hard worker and persuasive is a must.
QUALIFICATIONS:
□ College student working toward a degree in related field.
□ Excellent at multi-tasking and working with details in a fast-paced and self-directed environment
□ Ability and willingness to work flexible hours, as needed
