Maintain a Quality Control Department which will insure conformance to contract documents and specifications, and ensure companywide conformance to AISC policies and procedures, in the most efficient manner.
• Essential Job Functions and Qualifications• Maintain good attendance and reliability. • Supervise quality control personnel and inspection operations. • Must accurately read and understand shop drawings and shop orders. • Must accurately read tape measure or other measuring devices to 1/32”. • Must be familiar with AISC, AWS, and SSPC tolerances and acceptance criteria. • Maintain approved, checked drawings and specifications of the latest revisions. • Maintain files and records of inspections, both dimensional and nondestructive, and welder drawings and specifications prior to their release to the shop inspections by outside agencies, including customer representatives. • Work harmoniously with all other departments while effecting the quality of the product; i.e., Engineering, Sales, Purchasing, Project Management, Traffic, and Production. This person has the authority to “stop work” on any project where conformance to the contract documents and specifications are questionable. • Must assure that correct type, grade of materials are being used during fabrication. • Monitor welding processes and procedures to verify that work is in accordance with job specifications and codes. • Assure that all fabrication and welding is performed in accordance with applicable codes and standards. • Follow AISC and QA Procedures, and monitor companywide adherence to them. • Perform all responsibilities of the AISC Representative. • Perform related work and/or supervise as necessary, such as: • Inspect received materials in the yard at least once daily, to verify conformance to job specifications, established company procedures, and codes. • Must assure that correct type, grade of materials are being used during fabrication. • Inspect preparation of materials at the saw, beamline, shear, press brake, plasma, angle machine, ironworker machine, burn table, drill, and detail layout table, at least once in the morning and once in the afternoon, to verify that materials are being processed according to job specifications and codes. • Inspect the fit up, welding, stud welding, and overall quality of members to job specifications and codes, as required, using dimensional checking, and AISC and AWS acceptance criteria. • Monitor welding processes and procedures to verify that work is in accordance with job specifications and codes. • Inspect preparation of painted materials to verify that work is in accordance with job specifications and codes. • Record inspections on Daily Inspection form and post in shared folder on computer. Post all reports for the week no later than the end of each week. • Must be aware and responsible of surrounding environment and safety orientated with this environment. • Must maintain good housekeeping, keeping area neat and orderly at all times. • Must be able to speak and understand enough English to accurately follow basic instructions. • Must accurately and properly clock in and out on all different jobs and all shop orders worked on. • Work required hours to help meet production schedule and satisfy the needs of internal customers. • Be on time for production meetings • Professional ethics, tact, and courtesy in dealing with vendors, customers and employees. • Answer radio promptly when called. • Excellent attendance to work. • Perform other duties as required by management..
