Project Summary:

T-Rex has an immediate opening for a skilled Network Engineer to assist in the development, test and operation of a large secure web portal for the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Automated Commercial Environment (ACE) program. ACE is the commercial trade processing system being developed by CBP to facilitate legitimate trade and strengthen border security. This system will assist CBP to effectively manage and process over 25 million cargo containers that cross US borders each year. As a member of the ACE team, you will play a critical role in the success of the ACE modernization effort and have the opportunity to participate in a collaborative large-project environment.

Specifications:

Location: 100% travel to any of the CBP sites in the United States, Canada, and Caribbean; requires relocation to Bethesda, MD
Education: Bachelors degree in relevant field or equivalent experience
Experience: 3+ years of related experience
Citizenship: U.S. Citizenship is required
Additional: All applicants will be required to submit a background investigation application prior to beginning work. Applicant must receive a favorable response from the CBP Full Field Background Investigation (FFBI) personnel clearance process.

Skills Required:

* Cisco CCNA certification or equivalent is mandatory.
* Able to install, configure, operate, and troubleshoot medium-size routed and switched networks, including implementation and verification of connections to remote sites in a WAN
* Experience with the use of the following protocols: IP, Enhanced Interior Gateway Routing Protocol (EIGRP), Serial Line Interface Protocol Frame Relay, Routing Information Protocol Version 2 (RIPv2), VLANs, Ethernet, access control lists (ACLs)
* This position requires 100% travel to any of the CBP sites in the United States, Canada, and Caribbean.

Skills Desired:

* Experience working with Customs and Border Protection, and holding a current CBP clearance (significant plus)
* Prior experience working on large government projects
* Prior experience in CMM Level 2/3 environment

Duties & Responsibilities:

As a Network Engineer for the ACE project, you will assist the Team Lead with the installation and implementation of new redundant networks at US Customs and Border Protection sites in the United States, Canada, and Caribbean. You will configure on-site Cisco 45XX and 3750 switches to be installed in a layer 3 environment, full redundant network. You will update and reconfigure switches currently installed at sites to a new layer 3 environment incorporated in the new network design. In addition, you will test the newly installed network for operation and full redundancy and will perform fail-over testing of the WAN connections. You will install, configure, and test Cisco 1522 WiFi equipment and will create as-built documentation for the entire newly installed network. You will also troubleshoot and perform problem resolution of the newly installed network.

This position requires 100% travel to CBP sites in the United States, Canada, and Caribbean.
